Caribbean Posh Magazine establishes the region’s Premier Women’s Empowerment event

Posh-Body-Issue-2015-Final2016 Power Brunch: BVI Sets Precedent for First Event of Its Kind in The Caribbean

Caribbean POSH Magazine recently wrapped thevery successful premier edition of the Caribbean POSHGirl POWER Brunch: BVI earlier this month which was held on Scrub Island, the exclusive private destination resort. The first event of its kind in the region, the Power Brunch was created by the magazine’s Publisher and Editor-in-Chief, Janette Brin, and took place April 2nd.

Following the mission of the magazine, the Caribbean POSHGirl Power Brunch was designed to be an outlet for women to support and invest in each other and establish relationships as well as friendships that can carry on beyond their business endeavors. The first edition of the empowerment event surpassed expectations with over 100 women attending.

The inaugural event, hosted by MTV Tempo host, model and St. Croix native Janeisha John, presented a diverse group of influential and dynamic women. The 2016 Class of panelists included:
· Chantelle Fraser, Bravo’s Blood, Sweat & Heels
· Chardelle Moore, FOX45/CW Baltimore(TV Personality & Producer)
· Yvette Thomas-Henry, General Manager of theFour Seasons Atlanta
· Patricia Reinders, Founder & CEO of SULA NYC
· Sachkia Barnes, “Chief of Ideas,” Barnes Public Relations
· Fiona Compton, Designer, Photographer & Artist

Each panelist told her unique story about her journey in the world of business and entrepreneurship and what she felt it takes to be successful. Through tears and laughter, the women shared lessons learned and wisdom garnered in the pursuit of their dreams.

In addition to the panel, attendees enjoyed an exclusive fashion show, highlighting the design talents of Caribbean women including Kristen Fraser of Trefle Designs (BVI), Markita Smith-Turnbull of Menen-I Designs(BVI), Meiling Esau of Meiling (Trinidad & Tobago) and Fiona Compton’s new luxury line Paraiso(St. Lucia).

Rounding out the exhibition highlights, guests were also invited to attend the POSHGirl Pop Up Shop which reinforced the message of support and empowerment of the region’s businesses (#ShopCaribbean) by featuring products from Trefle Designs (BVI) and featured sponsor, itiba Beauty (St. Croix, USVI).

“I felt like it was time for us as Caribbean women to get together in sisterhood and get motivated to have the best year, the best career, the best life, the best us over all–period,” Janette Brin said when asked why she launched the Power Brunch event. “This event is an unapologetically fun and stylish way to celebrate today’s career woman.”
