Cabinet of the Cayman Islands – Post Meeting Summary

His Excellency the Governor Mr. Martyn Roper, OBE, chaired the meeting of the Cabinet held on Tuesday, 10th May, 2022 in the Cabinet Conference Room, GovernmentAdministration Building.

All Ministers and Members of Cabinet were present. Mr. Isaac Rankine acted as Minister for Planning, Agriculture, Housing and Infrastructure.

At this meeting Cabinet:

·         approved the issuance of a Coastal Works Permit to construct a private residential dock with a   swimming platform offshore Block 33M Parcel 32 in Rum Point, North Side, Grand Cayman;

·         approved the publication of the Unaudited Quarterly Financial Report: Three-Month Period ended 31st March 2022 and the tabling of the Report at the next sitting of Parliament;

·         approved the purchase of the following two properties for conservation purposes, Block 91A Parcel 25, Little Cayman and Block 65A Parcel 46, Grand Cayman;

·         approved in accordance with section 4 of the Law Reform Commission Act (2019 Revision) the following re-appointment to the Cayman Islands Law ReformCommission: Vaughan Carter, Commissioner;

·         approved in accordance with the Notaries Public Act (2014 Revision) the applications for the following persons for appointment as Notaries Public; Canisha Boldeau, Paul Byles, Rita Ebanks, Tania McClean Fernandez, Andres Rivero-Ferguson and Robin Garnham;

·         reviewed and noted the Seventeenth Annual Report of the Law Reform Commission and authorised  the Hon Attorney General to table the Report at the next meetingof Parliament;

·         reviewed and noted the Nineteenth Annual Report and Statistical Summary of the Financial Reporting Authority and authorised the Hon Attorney General to table the Report at the next meeting of Parliament;

·         reviewed and noted the Annual Report of the Anti-Corruption Commission for 1st July 2020 – 30th June 2021 and authorised the Hon Attorney General to table the Report at the next meeting of Parliament;

·         approved the following in relation to the Refugee Protection Appeals Tribunal in accordance with section 112 (1) and (2) of the Customs and Border Control Act (2022 Revision):

o   replacement with thanks of Ms. Lorna Dilbert-Hampson as Chair;

o   appointment of Mr. Langston Sibblies as Chair and Mr. Orrett Connor as Member;

·         noted the tax exemption statistics for January 2022, February 2022 and March 2022;

2.       Only a summary of the decisions will be published.

3.       Cabinet discussions will not be disclosed.

4.       Summaries of decisions of a sensitive nature, matters of national security, those where publication breaches regional or international conventions and those relating to personal privacy will not be disclosed.
