Cabinet of the Cayman Islands – Post Meeting Summary 18th January 2022

His Excellency the Governor Mr. Martyn Roper, OBE, chaired the meeting of the Cabinet held on Tuesday, 18th January 2022 in the Cabinet Conference Room, Government Administration Building.

All Ministers and Members of Cabinet were present with the exception of the Hon Juliana O’Connor- Connolly, Minister for Education, District Administration and Lands. Mrs. Katherine Ebanks-Wilks acted as Temporary Minister for Education, District Administration and Lands.

At this meeting Cabinet:

  • Confirmed approval granted by circulation on 14th January 2022 of the Control and Management of Covid-19 Regulations, 2022 and the Control of Covid-19 (Travel) Regulations, 2022;
  • Approved the issuance of drafting instructions to amend the Immigration (Transition) (Temporary Work Permits and Business Visitors’ Permits) Regulations, 2019 and the preparation of policy directions to the Director of WORC, the Work Permit Board, Business Staffing Plan Board and Cayman Brac and Little Cayman Immigration Board;
  • Approved the Anti-Money Laundering (Class A and Class B Bank Threshold Reporting) Regulations, 2022;
  • Approved the realignment of Homestead Crescent and publication of the Declaration of Intent Notice to Acquire Land for the Construction of a Public Road under section 3 and Authorisation of the National Roads Authority to enter said lands under Section 6 of the Roads Act as depicted by Boundary Plan 648;
  • Approved the extension of the Fairbanks facility access road, publication of the Declaration of Intent Notice to acquire Land for Public Road Construction under section 3 and Authorisation of the National Roads Authority to enter said land under section 6 of the Roads Act as depicted by Boundary Plan 643 and Declaration of Classification of land as public road as defined by Prescribed Composite Map No 344 under Section 5 of the Roads Act;
  • Approved the applications for the appointment of the following persons as Notaries Public in accordance with the Notaries Public Act (2014 Revision); Duran E. Dawkins, Maylin Moxam- Fernandez, Duane R. Jeffries, Tracy J. Rankine, Bentley N. Robinson and Kirsten J. Walmsley; and
  • Noted the Tax Exemption statistics for December 2021.
