Bodden Town CPD officers organize presentation to Cayman Islands Frances Bodden Children’s Home by CNB Staff Member

From RCIPS

The Bodden Town Community Policing Department has been conducting an ongoing weekly outreach program for residents of the Frances Bodden Children’s Home since June. This past Wednesday, 3 October, the officers invited a special guest to speak to the young ladies at the home. Doralee Wright is a young Caymanian professional working at Cayman National Bank.

“Don’t let your present situation define your future,” she told the residents, encouraging them to always stay positive. “Your past can motivate you to be successful in the future.”

After speaking, Ms. Wright was greeted by the girls, who expressed how happy they were to be able to hear from someone not too much older than them, whose experiences they could relate to, and thanked her for her words of inspiration.

A few days later, on Friday, 5 October, the Bodden Town CPD officers attended the Cayman National Bank headquarters on Elgin Avenue. There they took part in a short presentation which was organized by the bank’s president, Mr. Ormond Williams, and witnessed by other CNB staff. Bodden Town CPD officer, AC Tameka Ricketts, presented a fruit basket to Ms. Wright as a token of appreciation from the RCIPS. PS Cornelius Pompey thanked the bank for allowing Ms. Wright to present as part of the outreach program.

“It’s not just about the police, but the relationship of having the community and police working together to make a difference in the lives of our youths,” Sergeant Pompey said.

Mr. Williams expressed his appreciation and support for the initiative as well, speaking to Ms. Wight and his staff. “I am proud that a member of our staff can be part of the police drive to assist our young people, and I hope you will all strive to do the same.”

Mr. Williams concluded by thanking the RCIPS and the Bodden Town CPD team for the gesture.
