MIAMI, Fla. – June 7, 2016 HBO will exclusively air Beyoncé’s Lemonade for one night only on June 17 at 21hrs. Beyoncé has sold more than 100 million records worldwide and won 20 Grammys®, and the 60-minute HBO special presentation accompanies the megastar’s sixth studio album released earlier this year. Heralded an extraordinary visual masterpiece and Beyoncé’s best work to-date, Lemonade is a tour de force, pushing the boundaries of art and expression, and creating a visual narrative that becomes an essential part in understanding and appreciating the record.

Lemonade delivers a tone that is both deeply personal and provocative, making bold statements while also maintaining a certain cryptic quality to its storytelling. The narrative is intoxicating, intimate and fresh, touching on topics such as race, gender, power, marriage, infidelity, parenthood, and the experience of black women in America.

Lemonade is comprised of 12 musical tracks and the film is divided into 11 chapters – Intuition, Denial, Anger, Apathy, Emptiness, Accountability, Reformation, Forgiveness, Resurrection, Hope, and finally, Redemption – connected by a voiceover from Beyoncé reading prose and poetry by expatriate Somali poet Warsan Shire.

The film features appearances by a number of celebrated black women, including musical artists Ibeyi, Zendaya and Chloe x Halle, visual artist Laolu Senbanjo, young actresses Amandla Stenberg and Quvenzhané Wallis, and tennis star Serena Williams. The mothers of slain African American youths Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown and Eric Garner also make an appearance.

Seven different cinematographers contributed to the video anthology: Jonas Åkerlund, Kahlil Joseph, Melina Matsoukas, Dikayl Rimmasch, Mark Romanek, Todd Tourso, and Beyoncé herself. The film was edited by Bill Yukich. HBO plans to submit Lemonade for an Emmy® in the Variety Special category.
