Bahamas doctors threaten industrial action

From RJR News

Dr. Locksley Munroe, President of the Consultant Physicians Staff Association in the Bahamas, has warned of possible industrial action over working conditions.
Dr. Munroe explained that there is no health insurance for doctors, adding that they have not received salary increases over the last 10 years.
He said medical procedures have been cancelled because of a malfunctioning air conditioning system.
Dr. Munroe said the Association will meet with its members to strategise the withdrawal of service.
However, he urged the public not to fear a total withdrawal from senior physicians and that while the doctors plan industrial action, they will not allow patients to suffer.
Dr. Munroe said the Association plans to go back to the negotiating table on Friday with its lawyer to outline its next step to the Public Hospitals Authority.
On October 5, doctors voted to go on strike.
