Berlin, September 11, 2020 – SHIFT Mobility 2020, the most important international mobility event this year, draws a positive balance after its convention at the IFA in Berlin. Dr. Hans Hamer, CEO SHIFT Mobility: “The feedback of our partners, speakers and trade visitors on site is overwhelming, the media response is great. We were one of the first to take a consistent step towards ‘Back to Business’ – and we have been rewarded for it”.

For three days (3-5 September 2020) SHIFT Mobility presented the mobility concepts of the future in a hybrid format consisting of a convention, curated exhibition and various streaming sessions in the CityCube on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds. More than 40 international top speakers inspired the audience of experts live or on air with their ideas about tomorrow’s mobility and the resulting changes in living spaces. These included Opel CEO Michael Lohscheller, who exclusively announced on Friday the continuation of his company’s electric offensive with the electric version of the Movano van: “This means that we will also offer our complete portfolio of light commercial vehicles as electric versions as early as 2021,” says Lohscheller. Other speakers at SHIFT Mobility 2020 were Francois Bausch (Minister of Transport Luxembourg), shared mobility expert Sandra Philipps (founder and CEO Movmi), James Ehrlich (Stanford University/developer ReGen Villages), Sascha Pallenberg (Head of Digital Transformation Daimler), Renzo Vitale (Creative Director Sound BMW Group) and Dirk Messner (President German Federal Environment Agency).

A special highlight for the spectators on site was the premiere of FUTURE CANDY LAND. In the style of a theme park, the Hamburg innovation agency FUTURE CANDY presented creative mobility solutions and the latest technological developments. Visitors could test these on site or try them out on a specially designed test track. Under the motto #RacingForTheClimate, Le Mans winner and DTM champion Mike Rockenfeller opened the SIM Racing Series live. The “german apartment” on Thursday evening, organized by the communications agency fischerAppelt together with the organizer SHIFT Mobility, proved to be an intensive network format including panel discussion for the participants.

Partners of SHIFT Mobility 2020 were companies from the international mobility industry. Among them Shell, Autostadt, DEKRA, Hyundai, Porsche, BMW, SPIN (subsidiary Ford), UPS as well as Bridgestone Mobility, abl social federation, ARVATO and Vive Le Car.

Participants’ voices on SHIFT Mobility 2020:

François Bausch, Minister of Transport of Luxembourg: “It is important to organize conferences like SHIFT Mobility, because they give a holistic view on the whole mobility spectrum”.

Jan Toschka, General Manager Retail DACH, Shell: “SHIFT Mobility 2020 is a good place to talk to many people about interesting and different perspectives of the new mobility. I am glad that I could be part of it”.

Dr. Kerim Galal, Executive Vice President Corporate Strategy & Innovation and Managing Director DEKRA DIGITAL: “SHIFT was a great opportunity for DEKRA to connect with decision makers in the mobility innovation ecosystem. Furthermore, it gave a hopeful glimpse into how hybrid events will prevail in future – combining physical and digital interaction”.

Felix Petersen, Head of Spin Europe (Ford): “The session and panel I was able to attend were definitely among the best and most inspiring discussions I have ever had”.

Dirk Messner, President of the German Federal Environment Agency: “We need this kind of interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral approach. SHIFT Mobility is about bringing scientists and companies together and having lively discussions”.

Steffen Wagner, Global Head of Transport & Leisure at KPMG: “Very professional event – thank you very much for letting me be a speaker”.

Renzo Vitale, Sound Designer, BMW:“Electric cars have no past when it comes to sound. We know what our combustion engine sounds like, we do not know what our electric car sounds like. So, what we create is an iconic family of sounds […], as a reference for the future”.

James Ehrlich, Founder ReGen Villages and Faculty Member of Singularity University: “It was a pleasure to introduce ReGen Villages as the future of transportation, living in regenerative and resilient, self-sustaining neighborhoods far from urban areas”.

Lena Schrum, CO-Founder of aware: “SHIFT Mobility is a perfect place to connect the entire mobility sector”.

Anna Maria Schuler, abl social federation GmbH: “We are happy that we could be a part of SHIFT Mobility and hope that the talk on ‘AI-Driven Data Models in Urban Environments’ has provided some food for thought”.
