Attempted break-in of ATM

Criminals have made a determined attempt to remove an ATM machine with a sledge hammer from Butterfield Bank,
Fort Street.

The management of Butterfield Bank contacted the police to report that they discovered the bank’s ATM had been tampered with overnight.

Police reviewed the CCTV and saw how the culprits had tried to remove the machine by using a sledge hammer to pry it from the wall but were unsuccessful.

The ATM was not breached, preventing any cash from being stolen.

The incident is under investigation by detectives from the George Town CID.

The RCIPS is asking for any information that can lead to the apprehension of the persons that were responsible
for this incident.
