Grand Cayman, July 8, 2025 – The Department of Environmental Health (DEH) wishes to advise the public that the George Town Landfill will be temporarily closed from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, to facilitate a staff meeting.

The landfill will open at 5:00 AM as usual and temporarily close at 8:00 AM when members of the Solid Waste Team will attend a hurricane meeting. Operations will resume at 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Regular garbage collection and recycling operations will not be affected. Members of the public are also encouraged to use the 24-hour drop-off site at the entrance of the George Town landfill, which will remain open to facilitate the disposal of small amounts of waste from residential customers, if necessary.

There will be no changes to the schedule for the Sister Islands and collections; they will remain as normal.

The department apologizes for any inconvenience caused by this temporary closure.
