31st Annual KiwaniBike

KiwaniBike 2012 photoThe Kiwanis Club of Grand Cayman is proud to once again host their annual bike-a-thon, KiwaniBike – now in it’s 31st year. On Sunday, 17 February 2013 some 150+ riders will participate in the challenging ride from the Blow Holes in East End to Smith Cove in George Town.

Past President and KiwaniBike Chairperson Monique Bush said, “The response to this year’s event has been great so far. Locally we’ve seen an increase in the sport of cycling and we encourage all riding enthusiast to join us on our 20 Mile bike ride, collecting sponsorship and helping to raise funds for the Kiwanis Club of Grand Cayman; it’s Key Clubs and Builders Clubs which create young leaders in our schools.”

On Sunday, 17 February riders should head to Smith Cove between 5:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. and hand in their bikes which will be transported to the Blow Holes courtesy of Lemmie’s Trucking. Riders may then take a bus up to the Blow Holes in East End, courtesy of Majestic Tours. At 7:00 a.m. the cycle back to the finish at Smith Cove kicks off.

Event pre-registration is being offered this year on Saturday, 16 February at Foster’s the Strand from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Riders are welcome to come down to hand in pledges and collect their event t-shirts. Pledges of $30 or more will receive a t-Shirt, post-event refreshments and entry into a prize draw. Pledges of $150 or more will be entered to win a new bike from Uncle Bills!

“This event is a major fundraiser for our club and wouldn’t be possible without the help of our sponsors. We thank BritCay, Dart and Island Heritage for their generous support” added Monique Bush.
