The Referendum 

Question 1: Should the Cayman Islands develop cruise berthing infrastructure? 

Yes: 5,417 

No: 11,973 

Spoilt: 1,275 

Question 2: Do you support the introduction of a National Lottery in the Islands? 

Yes: 9,563 

No: 7,770 

Spoilt: 1,330 

Question 3: Do you support the decriminalisation of the consumption and possession of small amounts of Cannabis? 

Yes: 10,385 

No: 6,809 

Spoilt: 1,483 

At the close of the polls at 6:00 pm, voter turnout was 73 per cent, with 18,539 ballots cast.  

Speaking on the day’s proceedings, Supervisor of Elections, Wesley Howell expressed heartfelt thanks to Election Day staff for their incredible hard work.
