2 Metre You – Portraits

The British Photographic Assignment 2020: COVID−19, “2 Metre You − A Series of Safe Distance Portraits”

The British Photography Awards

Entry by Photographer Jamie Bubb

I live on the perimeter road of a large estate in Doncaster, it’s a popular route for runners, cyclists and walkers out for their daily exercise. I set up my camera and a single light and did my best to encourage people to stop or plan their daily exercise to go past my house. I got out to my makeshift studio whenever I could between homeschooling the kids, shopping for my vulnerable parents and generally trying to keep my family and self sane and safe.

What started as an opportunity to take strangers portraits became a wonderful exercise in sharing ideas, thoughts, worries and experiences with my fellow isolators from the safety of the length of my drive way.

The new British Photographic Assignments, open to all British-based photographers and those of British nationality the world over is continuing to accept images until 1st of January 2021.
