GRAND CAYMAN, Dec. 11, 2015 – United Airlines is celebrating 15 years of service to Grand Cayman. The airline operates weekly flights (on Saturdays) between Grand Cayman International Airport and its Houston Intercontinental Airport hub, with onward connections to cities throughout the United States and the world. The flights are operated using Boeing 737-800 aircraft with 154 seats — 20 in United First, 51 Economy Plus seats featuring additional legroom, and 96 in Economy.

United began serving Grand Cayman in 2000 using modern, fuel-efficient and eco-friendly Boeing 737 Next Generation aircraft.

“We are proud of this anniversary celebration in Grand Cayman,” commented Millie Uriarte, United’s Director of Sales for Latin America and the Caribbean. “United continues to be committed to this market and we thank our customers and the travel industry, who have made United their preferred airline over all these years.”

United organized a special treat for their customers. Passengers departing on the flight to New York/Newark received homemade sugarcoated cookies in appreciation for their support.

United in the Caribbean Islands

United Airlines began operating its Caribbean routes in 1994.   At present, the airline operates more than 200 flights a week to 18 cities in the Caribbean from its hubs in Chicago, Houston, New York/Newark and Washington. United’s Latinization initiative includes bilingual flight attendants on many flights, a website in Spanish, Portuguese and English, and an automated Spanish-language information line for flight arrival, departure and gate information. Flights to and from Caribbean destinations are operated using a mix of aircraft, mostly Boeing 737 Next Generation, equipped with United First, Economy Plus and Economy seats.
