Truman Bodden Law School offers two new taught postgraduate programmes from September 2017

Applications are now being accepted to join one of two new taught postgraduate programmes to be offered by the Truman Bodden Law School, commencing September 2017: the LLM in International Finance: Law and Regulation and the Postgraduate Diploma in International Finance: Law and Regulation.

The new programmes will lead to qualifications to be awarded by the University of Liverpool, UK, a member of the prestigious Russell Group for excellence in higher education. The qualifications will carry with them the professional benefits and opportunities that flow from the attainment of a postgraduate qualification awarded by any respected tertiary education provider.

The programmes will comprise subjects including international finance, banking regulation, international insolvency, the conflict of laws, public-private partnerships and more.

Directed at Cayman nationals and residents, the LLM and postgraduate Diploma will initially be offered on a part-time basis from September 2017 with all classes scheduled to take place in the early evening. The Law School expects to also offer the programmes full-time over one year from September 2019.

Full details on the admissions procedure are available from the Law School’s website (www.lawschool.gov.ky). Applications are open until 31st July 2017.

Mitchell Davies, Law School Director, said:
“The launch of the new postgraduate programmes has reaffirmed and extended the Law School’s long-standing affiliation with the University of Liverpool in providing Caymanians and local residents with further opportunities to obtain a face to face outstanding legal education without leaving Grand Cayman. In doing so, the Law School continues to realise its ambition of becoming a leading legal education provider across the Caribbean.

Laura Panades, the LLM course leader, said:
“The postgraduate programmes represent an invaluable further opportunity for Caymanians and legal residents to have access to first rate legal training on island. These programmes will identify and support local Caymanian talent, opening new pathways of learning and professional development on island.

“We have been overwhelmed by the quantity and the quality of enquiries received so far and we now look forward to admitting the first cohort of students to the programme.”

Enquiries about the programme should be directed to the Course Leader, Laura Panades on ([email protected]).
