I love mysteries. They are the top of my list when reading and watching movies.

I love to be surprised and I hate it when I am right after the reading and/or the movie has ended.

Often now we see the unfolding of government secrets. Secrets that have remained so for years. This makes for excellent story plots.

They say truth is stranger than fiction.

However, not so when the truth lies really with the governments. When it eventually comes out one often asks, “Why on earth did they want to cover that up?”

That is the strange part.

Today, we have a mystery on our hands.

What did he do? How many people did he upset? When did it happen? Here or before he arrived?

What a mystery.

I am, of course, talking about the shocking news that our new Governor, HE Mr. , has been temporarily withdrawn from his post as Governor of the to allow the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to investigate a number of complaints against him.”

WOW!!!

This is a first for the Cayman Islands.

“A number of complaints”. How many? By whom?

“The minister insisted that no further details could be provided at this stage and indicated that the Foreign and Commonwealth Office did not intend to make a public statement regarding the matter”.

It is therefore left for us to ferret the information out. The Marl Road I expect is full of rumour.

In this day and age it is more difficult to hide secrets.

Governments love secrecy. So do people. How many times have you heard someone say, “I learnt something the other day about Tom. But I can’t tell you.”

It’s almost like saying, “I know Anwar has had a number of complaints made against him, but I can’t tell you how many or what they are.”

These mysteries I loathe!
