The Editor speaks; Governor Roper likes to Tweet

Colin Wilson

I don’t Tweet. I never have and I doubt I ever will.

US President Donald Trump Tweets a lot.

I have just discovered our new Governor Martyn Roper Tweets.

I was waiting for his New Year’s Message but it didn’t arrive.

I found out, courtesy of Cayman27 that he sent a video New Year’s Message via a Tweet.

I have had to set up a Tweet account to find his message.

Grr.

I am now even hating Tweet even more.

There is much more that my precious time can be employed to do than having to read or worse still watch a Tweet.

So what did Governor Roper Tweet about?

“Since arriving here two months ago with my wife Lissie, we have been overwhelmed by a truly wonderful Caymankind welcome.”

“As we look to 2019, I believe these islands are very stable and very prosperous and I want to assure you I will do my utmost to support that in 2019. I do believe the relationship between the U.K. and the Cayman Islands is very strong and one of my objectives in 2019 will be to nurture and strengthen that relationship.”

He also said he was getting into our Cayman Culture and liked our food. He listed conch, turtle, the heavy cake, and seafood.

He also liked our sorrel and rum punch,

Unfortunately for me, he is going to find even more ways, besides ‘Tweeting”, to “try and finds ways to be very open and accessible and find new and innovative ways to reach out to people across all sectors of society.”

That might be all fine and dandy but do all our older folk here in the Cayman Islands “Tweet”?

Or are they generally like me?

Leave the tweeting to our wonderful birds. that reside here.

Perhaps Governor Roper might like to use Pigeon Post as an alternative to “Tweeting”…?
