The Editor Speaks:

Alone

Alone, all alone
Nobody, but nobody
Can make it out here alone.

There are some millionaires
With money they can’t use
Their wives run round like banshees
Their children sing the blues
They’ve got expensive doctors
To cure their hearts of stone.
But nobody
No, nobody
Can make it out here alone.

Alone, all alone
Nobody, but nobody
Can make it out here alone.

Now if you listen closely
I’ll tell you what I know
Storm clouds are gathering
The wind is gonna blow
The race of man is suffering
And I can hear the moan,
‘Cause nobody,
But nobody
Can make it out here alone.

Alone, all alone
Nobody, but nobody
Can make it out here alone.

Words by Maya Angelou From Poem “Alone”

After leaving the PPM Kenneth Bryan went out Alone and announced he was running Alone in the 2017 General Election.

Of course, most of us knew Kenneth wasn’t exactly Alone as he was being backed by the good doctor Steve Tomlinson. He surprisingly won the seat beating the most hardworking and universally acclaimed former Finance Minister Marco Archer.

Kenneth stood with his other Independent members of the Legislative Assembly but when his former boss Alden McLaughlin became the premier for a second term Kenneth thought he would like to know what it was like to be a government member and not be Alone, so he went cap in hand and asked if he could join.

After sounding off against almost everything Premier Alden’s government had done over the last four years and how he single handedly would do it so much better his cap was planted straight back on his head.

Ezzard Miller had been elected as Leader of the Opposition and Kenneth didn’t want to be Alone so he asked to join the official Opposition ranks. He was accepted.

Kenneth was not Alone anymore.

Alas, Kenneth hasn’t learnt that when you join a team it is like a chain and you have to become one of its links. If you don’t like being one of the links and don’t pull your weight the chain doesn’t want you. The chain is as strong as its weakest link.

And Kenneth criticised and wouldn’t put his name to the Official Opposition Press Release that castigated the Speaker McKeeva Bush.

Then Kenneth opted to team up with one of the members of the government to get one his private member’s motions onto the Order Papers. You have to have a seconder for a motion who is a member of the LA.

Ezzard has sent Kenneth packing saying he and his Opposition Members don’t want him because he is not “a good fit”.

Kennerth is Alone again and just cannot understand why.

This is what he said after hearing the news he was Alone.

“What does Mr Miller really mean when he says I am not a good fit? So far I have been in support of the policies we have discussed. But if he means that I am not going to go along with everything or follow suit, as that is not how I intend to represent the people of George Town Central, then perhaps I’m not a good fit as he says. But I will support the things that I think are right. I am an independent thinker and I believe Mr Miller has taken this position because I did not support the opposition call for the Speaker’s resignation before we had all of the information.” SOURCE: CNS

Yes Kenneth that is exactly why you aren’t a good fit and no one else seems to want you.

Let’s see how far you get by staying Alone.
