Compassion is always in fashion, Tree Hugger, Ocean Lover. Cayman Islands

This morning’s post was all about Spreading Christmas Cheer: Goodwill to all. In addition, I would like to raise awareness for some amazing environmental organizations both local and international. In the words of Margaret Mead, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”

The Central Caribbean Marine Institute (CCMI)

Their aim: “To provide oceanographic facilities that support key research into coral reef stress and to conduct research at a remote site, largely unaffected by local human and development impacts.”

The mission of the National Trust: ” To preserve the history and biodiversity of the Cayman Islands. Through education and conservation we work to protect environmentally sensitive and historically significant sites across all three Cayman Islands.”

Conservation International

This amazing organization has created a wonderful campaign bringing much needed awareness for protecting the environment. Their campaign “Nature Is Speaking” is making a positive impact on a global scale. Below are two of their brilliant campaign videos. 1. Peace on Earth?

“Aren’t humans amazing? They kill wildlife – birds, deer, all kinds of cats, coyotes, beavers, groundhogs, mice and foxes by the million in order to protect their domestic animals and their feed.

Then they kill domestic animals by the billion and eat them. This in turn kills people by the million, because eating all those animals leads to degenerative – and fatal – health conditions like heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, and cancer.

So then humans spend billions of dollars torturing and killing millions more animals to look for cures for these diseases.

Elsewhere, millions of other human beings are being killed by hunger and malnutrition because food they could eat is being used to fatten domestic animals.

Meanwhile, few people recognize the absurdity of humans, who kill so easily and violently, and then plead for ‘Peace on Earth.'” C. David Coates

The good news is that anyone can break this cycle of violence. I did and you can too. Each of us has the power to choose compassion. Peace really does begin in the kitchen.
