ROBBERY UPDATES: Woman robbed Rackams/Britcay 2 men arrested/Robbery GT Courts

Robbery – Rackams

At about 10:01 PM tonight (Fri 5) 911 received a report of a robbery in the vicinity of Rackams.  A female was attacked by a male with a machete, and the victim sustained injuries to her hand. The victim’s handbag was stolen at the time of the heist. She was transported to the George Town Hospital in a private vehicle.

The robber is described as 5’ 6” to 5’7” tall, slim build, wearing a blue long-sleeved shirt, a dark long pants and a black baseball hat.  The victim’s hand bag was a black leather bag containing a BlackBerry Bold, a Nikon 9100 camera, a white & blue ladies’ wallet, overseas & local drivers’ licenses, overseas and local bank cards and a small amount of cash.

The victim received a minor wound to her right hand; she was treated at the hospital and was discharged.

BritCay House incident

Two men are in police custody following yesterday’s robbery outside Britcay House.

The arrests took place in two separate police operations yesterday evening.

The two men aged 32 and 28 were arrested on suspicion of robbery and remain in police custody while enquiries continue.

A white Mitsubishi Galant bearing the licence plate 135064 and believed to have been used during the offence has been recovered along with some of the property stolen from the victim.

A firearm has also been recovered.

Officers continue to follow positive lines of enquiry and appeal for anyone who witnessed the robbery, saw the white Mitsubishi or any of its occupants either before or after the incident to come forward. Yesterday (4) Police were appealing for witnesses following the above armed robbery Thursday afternoon Oct 4th in the vicinity of BritCay House, Eastern Avenue, George Town.

About 1.10pm today a male approached the driver of a Sprint company vehicle with a firearm in the car park of BritCay House, the suspect threatened the witness and made off with stolen property. The suspect left the scene in a white Mitsubishi Galant turning right onto Eastern avenue.

The suspect is described as 5’8” to 5’ 9” in height with dark skin.

No shots were fired. No one was injured.

The RCIPS have  released information on another incident not far from the above one, at GT Courts: 

On Thursday, 04 October 2012 at about 3:40 am, a female occupant of an apartment at George Town Courts, off Eastern Avenue reported that a male who was in possessing of a knife entered her apartment through her unlocked front door. She was alerted by rumbling noises in her bedroom where the burglar was searching through her drawers.  She shouted at the burglar, and he continued searching.  She shouted the second time, and the burglar fled the apartment on foot.

Suspect was described as being short in height, light complexion, bearded face, wearing a green tee shirt, a yellow pants, and he had a white t-shirt on his head.

Items stolen were two Jamaican passports, one gold chain and one bracelet.

The burglar did not threaten the victim; there was no physical contact between the burglar and the victim, and there were no physical injuries.
