Registration drive

The Elections Office, in preparation for the 2013 General Elections is encouraging all qualified persons who wish to register as electors to take advantage of the registration drive which gets underway on September 1st and continues through to December 1st, 2012.

The final date for registration for individuals wishing to vote at the May, 2013 General Elections will be January 2nd, 2013.  It should be noted that if an elector is already registered there is no need to re-register.  However, all registered electors are requested to inspect the register of electors for their respective districts to ensure that their particulars as shown on the list are accurate.  It is essential for all registered electors who may have changed their address, whether within the same district or to another district, to complete the requisite Form 13 and submit it to the registering officer in that district or to the Elections Office.

For all those persons or groups interested in getting qualified individuals registered the Elections Office welcomes their efforts.  As the registering officers are the individuals responsible for compiling the registers of electors and determining whether a person qualifies, persons or groups getting involved in the effort need to either bring these prospective electors in to the Saturday registration stations or the Elections Office.

The registers of electors are now posted at all post offices and public libraries for inspection.  The list can also be accessed on the Elections Office’s website www.electionsoffice.ky

All qualified individuals who are not now registered must remember that if they are not registered they cannot vote.  The Elections Office is here to facilitate voters and to ensure that they have an opportunity to exercise their franchise.
