Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis commends the efforts of His Majesty King Mohammed VI for peace and stability in the world

Friday, July 26, 2019 – Rabat, Morocco – Timothy Sylvester Harris, Prime Minister of the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, welcomed on Thursday in Rabat the efforts of His Majesty King Mohammed VI in favor of the peace and stability in the world.

“We salute the actions undertaken by His Majesty King Amir Al Mouminine, to promote the values ​​of peace, coexistence and mutual respect among people without distinctions based on religion,” said Timothy Harris at a press briefing in the result of his meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Morocco, Nasser Bourita, adding: “learning to live together is an imperative of the modern world”.

The Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis pointed out that:

“His Majesty King  Mohammed VI plays an important role in Africa and on the international scene in favor of regional diplomacy, socio-economic development and South-South cooperation”.

In addition, Timothy Harris expressed his country’s willingness to consolidate bilateral relations with Morocco, welcoming, in this wake, the signature on the sidelines of the meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Morocco, a Memorandum of Cooperation 2019-2021, which will give a new impetus to the partnership between the two countries.

“The Kingdom is highly respected internationally and plays a key role in the agendas of developing countries and in the context of South-South cooperation,” he noted, noting that “Morocco has has achieved remarkable development and has a lot to share with developing countries, including agriculture, infrastructure, education and culture, which are key sectors for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals “.

For his part, Nasser Bourita noted that the visit of the Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis is part of the strengthening of bilateral cooperation ties, which have seen a qualitative leap since this Caribbean country changed its position on the conflict around the Moroccan Sahara and withdrawn, in 2010, its recognition of the pseudo “RASD” (Arab Sahrawi Democratic Republic).

“Since that date, a new framework for cooperation has been established, in line with the Royal Vision for South-South Cooperation, culminating in the signing in 2013 of a 3-year memorandum in the areas of training, exchange of experiences, agriculture, health and technical cooperation, “he said.

Nasser Bourita said that the new memorandum of cooperation aims to renew cooperation ties and broaden the partnership to other areas, including health, agriculture, training, in addition to diplomatic coordination at regional and international level . 

“We have also signed a joint communiqué on the common position on regional and international issues, including the position of Saint Kitts and Nevis on the question of the territorial integrity of the Kingdom”. he said.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Morocco assured that in accordance with the vision of His Majesty the King, the partnership will focus on concrete projects in the framework of the strengthening of relations between Morocco and the countries of the Caribbean region , thanks to the recent intense visits and the opening of a permanent mission of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) to Rabat – the first of its kind in the Arab world and Africa – which will give a new impetus for coordination between the different parties.
