“Paint Meets Poetry” by Cayman Islands’ artist Gordon Solomon

Screen Shot 2016-08-03 at 11.34.40 AMOriginal oil paintings and prints are available from this series, which incapulates the talents of Gordon Solomon and his wife Alta.

From poetry written by Alta, Gordon translates the words into unique artwork.

“Good Enough to Eat”
With fear in one hand
Determination in the other
The way forward becomes like
A peppermint candy
In the making.
Strung on nail
Beaten
Twisted
Conformed to the creator’s desire.
Mmmmmm…..
It’s good enough to eat.

Beyond Your Face”
I looked beyond your face today,
And I saw a scared spirit.
Afraid of what was not,
And of what has.
It broke your soul in two,
And one of the pieces became lost.
The other, stood on an edge.
The edge of the beginning…

Me & His love
He holds me gently like
the fragile hibiscus
growing in our front yard…
and rescues me
when I most want
to lose myself.

Unsatisfied”
Too late
Too soon
Too young
Too grown

To smart
Too dumb
Too much
Too none

Too fast
Too slow
To stay
To go

Too hard
Too soft
Too late
Too oft…
