North Side CERT graduation

Hazard Management Cayman Islands announced they are celebrating the successful completion of another CERT team training – this time for the community of North Side!

25 residents of the district took part in the training and out of that number, 17 of them successfully completed the requirements – a great achievement because the training program is demanding and represents a significant time commitment. The North Side CERT will be officially established in the national database on Tuesday, July 31st.

Everybody is invited to the graduation and it would mean a lot to the community members to see everybody there at the North Side Civic Centre on Tuesday, July 31st at 7.30 p.m..

Teddy Ebanks (the Leader of the CERT team) and Archie Whittaker were absolutely critical to the establishment of the North Side CERT. The successful launch of the team had a lot to do with their dedication and commitment.

The establishment of the North Side CERT will make North Side more resilient and safer, especially in the event we are impacted by a natural disaster.

The programme includes:

Opening remarks and Welcome – Omar Afflick, HMCI Deputy Director Preparedness

Remarks: The Honourable Franz Manderson, Deputy Governor

Remarks: Ezzard Miller, North Side MLA

Presentation of Individual CERT Completion Certificates – Hon. Franz Manderson / Jondo Obi, Director Cayman Islands Red Cross

Presentation of CERT Incorporation Document and Backpacks – McCleary Frederick, HMCI Director

Thanks: Teddy Ebanks, Leader North Side CERT
