NHDT operations not affected by investigation

The National Housing Development Trust (NHDT) continues to operate as usual, and the administrative functions have not been impeded, following the recent announcement of a Royal Cayman Islands Police Service investigation into a board member.

General Manager Janet James said, “There are no accusations relating to the operational or financial aspects of the NHDT. Our offices are open as usual, and we are cooperating fully with the authorities.”

She added that the RCIPS investigation has not impacted the NHDT’s service to its clients and the public.

Established in 2003, the government-owned entity currently has over 800 applicants (and 75 families already in homes) in the Affordable Homeowners initiative; there are 311 homeowners who have benefitted from the Government-Guaranteed Housing Assistance Mortgages; and six families that are benefitting from the Build on Your Own Property initiative.

The West Bay and East End housing programmes are continuing, while the ongoing Windsor Park redevelopment is scheduled to be completed within three months, and Bodden Town project is set to commence this year.
