Miss Teen contestants visit Cayman Brac

Bright and early last Saturday morning 5th August, five of the six Miss Teen contestants, accompanied by the reigning Miss Teen Liana DaCosta, made the journey to Cayman Brac to learn first-hand about the Sister Islands.  On arrival, they were met by bus driver Mr Barry and Tour guide Mr Philip Smith, both of whom made it an interesting and most educational tour.  The Tours were arranged through the District Administration and Ministry of Tourism.
This is part of the contestants’ educational tour to get to know their communities and to prepare for their academic test.  The contestants were surprised to learn they would be tested on their knowledge of the Cayman Islands and its history but are excited as they participate in the gathering of information and listening to the older generation recount various details of life in the Cayman Islands before “all this technology”!
Of the six contestants only two can recall ever going to Cayman Brac in the past.  During their trip the young ladies visited various historical and tourist sites.  The highlight of their trip however was a visit to the Kirkconnell Community Care Centre where they interacted with the elderly citizens resident there and who made quite an emotional impact on the contestants who have vowed to return after the pageant.
The ladies are becoming more and more excited as the date of the pageant approaches.  The community is invited to come out on August 26th at the Lions Community Centre to support their favourite contestant.
