Meryl Streep joins cast in second installment of “Big Little Lies”

By Barbara Gomez

Oscar®-winner Meryl Streep has been added to the stellar cast of the second installment of BIG LITTLE LIES. Streep will play Mary Louise Wright, Perry’s (Alexander Skarsgård) mother, who arrives to Monterey searching for answers following the death of her son.

Streep joins series’ stars and executive producers Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon who will reprise their respective roles as Celeste and Madeline, respectively. David E. Kelley also returns as writer of the seven-part installment, partially based on a story by Liane Moriarty, author of the book the original limited series was based on.

BIG LITTLE LIES was a hit among fans and critics alike following its premiere in January of last year. The series received the most awards for any other production in its respective categories, garnering over eight Primetime Emmys® and four Golden Globes® in their most recent editions.
