A man has been stabbed and another shot in two separate incidents.

At 2.45am a man was stabbed several times in the neck and body at the Islander Hotel on West Bay Road. 

Just after 5am a teenager was shot in his hip on Anderson Road in West Bay. The incidents are not thought to be connected. 

Both victims are recovering in hospital. Neither of their injuries are life threatening.  

A police spokeswoman said: “Officers from the RCIPS are investigating two separate incidents  which occurred in the early hours of this morning, leaving two men in hospital – one stabbed and another shot.

“Officers are also ramping up patrols tonight in an effort to stamp out the violence.

“In the first incident, around. 2:45 am,  police received a report that there had been a stabbing in the vicinity of the Marriott. On arrival officers found that a 25-year-old man had been stabbed several times to the neck and body.  He was bleeding profusely. 

“The injured man was taken to the Cayman Islands Hospital where he is currently being treated. The injuries are not believed to be life threatening. 

“The stabbing is believed to have occurred at the Wet Fest which took place at the Islander Hotel.

“In the second incident, police received a report around 5:10am that someone had been shot at the Thatch Palm Villas on Anderson Rd, West Bay.

“The victim,  a 19-year-old man, was found to have a gunshot wound to the upper left hip. The victim was taken to the hospital where he is also being treated. 

“On examination the injuries were found not to be life threatening.

“It appears that the victim had been confronted by two masked men , armed with a shotgun at the location. The suspects shot at the man and made off from the scene.”

The gunmen are described as being  5’10 & 6’ 0 in height. Both were wearing long pants with hoody style camouflage jackets.

Detectives say both  incidents are being treated as attempted murder.
