Fugitive tech tycoon John McAfee was essentially deported to Britain from the Dominican Republic this week after he docked at the island with firearms on his yacht, his lawyer reportedly said.

“(They) asked him where he wanted to go, and he decided on London,” lawyer Candido Simon told Reuters on Friday.

The lawyer’s confirmation came after McAfee said in a new Twitter post Friday that he was detained “for all but one hour” of his recent visit to the Caribbean nation but that the reason was “too complex to quickly tell.”

The security software millionaire said only that he was taken into custody along with his wife and crew members because “authorities deeply suspected that I was actually John McAfee.”

He previously posted pics taken inside his jail cell and dismissed as “nonsense” a report claiming his arrest was over suspicion he had “high caliber weapons” on his yacht.

According to the Associated Press, the Caribbean island’s armed forces and public ministry said Wednesday that McAfee was apprehended on suspicion his yacht was carrying big guns, ammunition and military-style gear.

The customs authority said it found pistols, a shotgun and bars that appeared to be silver on the luxury boat called the Great Mystery, Reuters reported.

McAfee, known for being an early pioneer or anti-virus software, is no stranger to legal controversy.

He confessed in tweetstorm earlier this year that he hasn’t paid the IRS in eight years.

The British-American businessman who sought the Libertarian Party nomination in the 2016 presidential election said he considers federal taxation “illegal” and repeatedly dared officials to try and arrest him.

“Here I am,” he said in multiple tweets.

He previously fled to Guatemala from Belize when he was sought for questioning concerning the murder of a neighbor, Reuters previously reported.
