Intertrust clients donate significant funds to Cayman Islands Cancer Society

Intertrust Cayman, on behalf of its clients, was thrilled to deliver a cheque for USD163,981.00 to the Cayman Islands Cancer Society (CICS). The donation will go towards fundraising efforts to purchase a new mammogram machine for George Town Hospital.

The new mammogram machine will replace the current equipment donated by the CICS just over ten years ago. Having undertaken around 15,000 mammograms since it at arrived at George Town Hospital the machine is ready to be replaced. Early detection of breast cancer can reduce fatality by 25 to 30% and up-to-date, efficient equipment is essential to provide patients with accurate results.

Dr. Yin Advocate Director of CICS said, “On behalf of the Cayman Community, I would like to thank Intertrust for facilitating this generous donation from their clients, which will jumpstart our fundraising efforts to acquire a New Hologic Dimensions Breast Tomosynthesis System which will be able to detect breast cancer earlier, see lesions more clearly, reduce unnecessary biopsies and make these procedures more comfortable and tolerable for our patients. This system not only consists of the 3D Tomosynthesis and the 2D Full Field Digital Mammogram Machine, it also has the capability of performing minimally invasive stereotactic breast biopsies with wire localisation of suspicious lesions.

CICS will be partnering with the Breast Cancer Foundation to jointly fundraise for this initiative. This will allow us, with the help of everyone in our community, to get to our goal in record time to procure this system to help reduce the incidence of Breast Cancer in the Cayman Islands.“

Daniel Rewalt from Intertrust commented “We are overjoyed to be able to hand over funds of this significance to the Cayman Islands Cancer Society and that the entire amount will be put towards the new mammogram machine.”
