Haines completes London Marathon

Screen shot 2014-04-13 at 2.19.51 PMAMENDED: Derek Haines, veteran marathon runner supreme, completed his third marathon run in London today (13) in 3.57.01, if you count the Cayman Marathon he completed last year. However, this is the second one in his schedule of six that will culminate in him in executing the Cayman Marathon again.

The London Marathon was Derek’s fastest run for several years that he attributes to his high altitude training in the Pyrenees after Paris last week.

There was also some other excellent news – another  100K pledged to Derek’s six marathon challenge to build a new Hospice in Cayman.

After hearing the news he said, “This is a third of the marathons completed and over a third of the $1 million pledged so we are on track. As coach Jerry Harper says with his style of Math ‘6 x 26.2 equals 1 million’. The race atmosphere was fantastic, the crowds so supportive and it drove  me on. All of Cayman now needs to believe we can complete the challenge, dig deep and help us create this very necessary facility for all of our community.”

Well done, Derek. It is not only the Pyrenees but listening to your trainer, Chris Johnson.
