Get cheeky at Paris’ first naked restaurant, where diners eat escargot in the buff

BY SHANNON CONNELLAN From Mashable

Why someone would want to risk dropping hot soup in their lap without a pants barrier is beyond me, but yet, the world continues to enjoy nude dining.

Naked restaurants, where folks are invited to dine in the buff, have been popping up in major cities around the world — and Paris is the latest.

Following big openings (sorry) in London and Tokyo in 2016, Paris has welcomed the arrival of O’naturel, the city’s first naturist restaurant, reports Le Parisien.

Located in a small, unassuming street in the 12th arrondissement, sporting heavy blackout curtains, the 40-seat restaurant encourages longtime nudists and newbie nudies alike to leave their belongings in the cloakroom and dine in “complete freedom.”

What’ll you be eating, while you’re trying super hard not to stare at your date’s bits? According to the website’s menu, roasted snail, homemade dried duck chips, followed by inverted crumble with lime mascarpone. No chipolatas, here.

Reactions have been predictably mixed.

London’s naked restaurant, The Bunyadi, operates on the same “clothing-optional” policy, where you can “revisit the beginning where everything was fresh, free and unadulterated from the trappings of modern life.”

Tokyo’s version, The Amrita, came under fire after revealing plans to weigh diners at the door, and bar those who are overweight from entering.

The trend made it to Australia for one night only in Melbourne in 2016, when two local radio hosts decided to open a 50-person naked pop-up dubbed“The Noble Experiment.”

Look, going out for your birthday dinner in your birthday suit might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but any event that champions body positivity and self confidence is alright by me. Personally, I’ll be keeping my pants on at the dinner table, but wishing them all the best.
