Eric Bush appointed Head of Cayman Islands London Office

Mr Eric BushUNITED KINGDOM REPRESENTATIVE APPOINTED

The Deputy Governor, Hon. Franz Manderson has appointed Mr. Eric Bush JP to the position of United Kingdom Representative and Head of the London Office, effective 1st July 2016.

Mr. Bush will be seconded to the post for three years and a recruitment exercise for his present position, Chief Officer in the Ministry of Home Affairs, will commence immediately.

The London Office is currently the responsibility of the Cabinet Secretary, however, Mr. Bush, as Chief Officer, has previously managed and had strategic and policy oversight of the London Office when the London Office was the responsibility of the Ministry of Home Affairs from 2013-2015.

Mr. Manderson stated that the importance of the London Office to the Cayman Islands cannot be over emphasized. The continual global focus on the Cayman Islands, which has intensified during recent weeks, requires high calibre representation both in the United Kingdom and Europe.

Mr. Manderson said, “I am very pleased that Mr. Bush has accepted the position as the Head of the Cayman Islands Government London Office and UK Representative. I believe that this move will not only benefit the Cayman Islands but also his own career development as a civil servant”.

The Premier, Honourable Alden McLaughlin, who has ministerial responsibility for both the Cabinet Office and the Ministry of Home Affairs said, ‘This appointment is bittersweet. I am happy to hear that Mr. Bush will be our Representative in the UK, however I know that he will leave a big void to be filled as Chief Officer for Home Affairs.’

Cabinet Secretary, Mr. Samuel Rose commented, “I congratulate Mr. Bush on his appointment as the UK Representative and welcome him to the Cabinet Office team. He and I have worked closely together on many initiatives, some of which have had international implications. I look forward now to working closely with him on international matters with a focus on the United Kingdom and the European Union”.

Mr. Bush stated that he was looking forward to the new challenges and relocating overseas during this time with his family and thanked the Deputy Governor for allowing him to gain valuable experience in this new role.
