Collas Crill partner to address STEP Caribbean Conference

Collas Crill senior partner and trusts and private wealth specialist, Antony Duckworth, will be addressing the STEP Caribbean Conference in May.

Antony is joining Professor Jonathan Harris QC (Hon) of Serle Court and Graeme Kleiner from Charles Russell Speechlys LLP on the panel titled Statute Barred? The Effectiveness of Firewall Provisions in Fending Off Matrimonial Claims, moderated by Morven McMillan from Maples & Calder.

They will be considering whether the so-called “firewall” provisions of IFC’s are effective especially in the matrimonial context, and what issues trustees and their advisers should take into consideration when relying on these provisions.

Antony said: “Cayman’s foreign element legislation has been in place for 30 years, and seems to have been effective in deterring attack on Cayman trusts. But suggestions have been made recently that it might benefit from further amendment. I hope that our discussion will provide some useful pointers.”

STEP is the worldwide professional association for those advising families across generations. They help support professionals to understand the issues families face in this area and promote best practice, professional integrity and education to members.

The Caribbean Conference will be taking place from the 1-3 May at the Kimpton Seafire Resort in Grand Cayman. Antony’s panel session will be taking place on Tuesday 2 May from 9.05am. You can find more information on the event here: http://www.stepcaribbeanconference.com/
