Christmas Praise

Cayman Islands First Baptist Choir’s Christmas Praise deserves praise

Georgina Wilcox

For three nights (Dec 14, 16 &17) the Cayman Islands First Baptist Church (FBC) staged their 2016 Festival of Christmas Praise at the church on Crewe Road opposite The Lions Centre.

I have attended over the many years many of their performances and I have never been disappointed.

Last Sunday (17) was no exception. The performance was professional, slick, rousing, spiritual, tuneful and moving. There had to have been many, many hours of rehearsals and this is one of the best and biggest church choirs in the Cayman Islands.

There soaring singing with majestic loud orchestral recorded backings filled the large church and from the smiling and attentive faces of the large audience in attendance everyone was enjoying it.

The moving story of the birth of Jesus Christ that has been told thousands of times over never gets stale and along with the biblical readings and references, the moving images on the screens all helped to make the story fresh.

It was indeed Christmas Praise and the choir, the musical director Pr David Jorge, the sound and lighting teams, and everyone else connected with it also need an almighty PRAISE, too.

The Christmas message was delivered by Senior Pr Patrick Powell.

Thank you.
