Christmas Gift Bags distributed to communities in Cayman Islands’ capital

Some families and individuals in the Windsor Park and Prospect areas were the recipients of an early Christmas gift from the Kings Adventist Church Sunday (December 17, 2017), when a band of eight volunteers and a troop of young people trekked through these communities, gift bags in hand.
At the end of the enterprise, 35 bags, packed with food items, from sardines, beans and rice, to flour, sugar and milk, were dispensed.
“Some people were moved to tears of gratitude” — and not just with respect to the goods left behind but more from the thoughtfulness it represented to the recipients, particularly for the seniors, said Kings Community Services Leader Stephanie Jackson.
Ms Jackson said that the annual drive was the culmination of three months of collection of cash and food items from among and by church members.
In addition to filling some community needs, the annual distribution was also an opportunity, Ms Jackson said, for the church’s young people to experience the joy of giving and to help to minister to spiritual needs.
“It was rewarding for both our adult volunteers and the young people who accompanied them,” Ms Jackson said.  “It brought satisfaction in knowing that we could play a part in meeting a little of the physical and spiritual needs around us,” the Community Services Leader said.
