Chancery Bar Placement scheme announcement – Invitation for applications from Cayman Islands

The Scheme is available to Caymanian articled clerks seeking a 12 week placement in a participating Chancery Chambers in England and Wales. The placement will commence before 31st December 2015.

Applications should be submitted to the Chancery Chambers by email at [email protected]. The application deadline is 5pm (GMT) on Monday, 17 November 2014.

Student applications for places commencing before 31 December 2015

The Chancery Bar Association, the Cayman Islands Law Society and the Caymanian Bar Association are pleased to announce that applications by Caymanian articled clerks for placements in Chancery Chambers in England and Wales commencing before 31 December 2015, will open to students on Monday 27 October 2014.

The Chambers who are members of the Scheme are set out below:

The placements are governed by the terms of the Framework Agreement entered into by the above Associations and Society in May 2014.   Student’s attention is particularly drawn to paragraphs to 10 to 23 (inclusive).

Cayman articled clerks may apply to up to 3 sets of chambers for a 12 week placement. Each application should be completed on a separate form and all forms returned, completed and scanned, by e-mail to [email protected]. Forms must be received by 5pm (GMT) on Monday 17 November. The Form that is used should be that to be found on the website (www.chba.org.uk) and can be found by clicking here.

Applicants are also asked to complete and send in with their application(s) a Diversity Monitoring Form though this is not compulsory.

Offers by Chambers will be made by 5pm (GMT) on 1 December 2014 and must remain open for acceptance until 5pm (GMT) on 8 December 2014.

Acceptances must be notified to Chambers and the ChBA by 5pm (GMT) on 8 December 2014.

If necessary, a clearing process will then operate to try to match any unsuccessful applicants with Chambers.

Any acceptances under the Scheme will be subject to the agreement of the ChBA and the Legal Advisory Council of the Cayman Islands.

01 December 2014  5pm (GMT)    Last date for offers from Chambers (which must remain open for acceptance until 5pm (GMT) on 8 December 2014).

08 December 2014  5pm (GMT)    Last time for acceptance of offers (to be notified to Chambers and the ChBA).

Please note that the application process is subject to the oversight of the Legal Advisory Council of the Cayman Islands.
