Celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee

Diamond Jubilee logo

The week of Monday, 28 May, GIS Spotlight takes another look at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations and the closed circuit television system that is now in place.

Share in the excitement of what is underway to celebrate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee and see how we can all participate to show our respect for the Queen and her 60 year rule.

Hear about programmes that will lead up to and continue beyond the 4 June public holiday. Learn what’s in store at an international day in central George Town on 4 June after the ceremonial parade.

Next, we take you into the realm of Grand Cayman’s closed circuit television system (CCTV) that is up and running. See how the cameras that are pointed at public roads throughout the island will help police and 911 operations.

Aimed at improving police functioning and public safety, the cameras can also read licence plates of moving vehicles. Learn about the ease in operating the cameras remotely from a centralised location as well as from district units whenever necessary.

Produced by GIS Marketing and Communications, GIS Spotlight highlights government’s services and solutions regarding issues that concern and affect you. The weekly programme airs on Cayman27 at 8 p.m. on Mondays and 6 p.m. on Saturdays. Also, Radio Cayman broadcasts GIS Spotlight stories on Tuesdays at 7 p.m.

All stories seen in the week’s GIS Spotlight can also be found on the GIS Marketing and Communications website: www.gis.ky.

Comments and suggestions about the programme are always welcome. Viewers can provide feedback by e-mailing [email protected].
