Cayman: RCIPS warns of fake email

The RCIPS would like to alert the public that someone has been accepting complaints from the public and corresponding with members of the public regarding police matters using the email address [email protected]. This email address is false. The RCIPS does not currently have an employee by the name of Larson Bodden and this email address does not exist in our official directories.
The RCIPS also does not have a Complaints Unit that is located at the Elizabethan Square in George Town. Complaints against police officers must be sent to the Professional Standards Unit, located on Windjammer Plaza, Walkers Road or through the Ombudsman Office located on Anderson Square, George Town. For more information on both the offices, visit our website www.rcips.ky or the website of the Ombudsman at www.ombudsman.ky.
If you receive any correspondence from this email address, we advise that you do not respond or click on any links that you may receive, but instead report the matter to the police immediately.

ADDENDUM: Please note that formal complaints can also be submitted at any police station.
It would be useful to know *how* the RCIP’s email address was stolen or invaded. Is the whole system vulnerable to hacking, to the point of unreliability? We the public – the people whom the Service is supposed to serve, after all – need to know. I reported my receipt of one of those fake messages, but my report has not been acknowledged as yet.
