Cayman Islands: UPDATED: Pedestrian dies, man charged -Traffic collision involving a pedestrian on Shamrock Road, 28 May

Driver in 28 May Shamrock Road Collision ArrestedFurther to the below, the driver of the vehicle involved in the collision, a man age 42 of George Town, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. He is currently on bail as the investigation continues.

Update: Pedestrian in 28 May Shamrock Road Collision Dies

Police can confirm that the pedestrian involved in the traffic collision on Shamrock Road on Monday, 28 May, has died. He is Carlton William Farrell, age 68 of Bodden Town.

The RCIPS offers condolences to the family of the deceased.

The collision remains under police investigation.

UPDATED: We have just heard that the 68 year old victim of the car accident (see below), Carl Farrell, has sadly died from his injuries.

Update:

Both lanes of Shamrock Road are now open to traffic. The victim remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Traffic Collision Involving a Pedestrian on Shamrock Road, 28 May

Officers are currently on the scene of a traffic collision involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian on Shamrock Road in the vicinity of Trumbach Drive. The victim has been transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital. The eastbound lane at the location is currently blocked, and officers on scene are directing traffic in both directions. Motorists are advised to avoid the area if at all possible.
