Cayman Islands to host fourth biennial property and construction conference

GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Islands, 5 December2018 – Call it a boom or a bubble, the local real estate market has been on a steady incline. But is it sustainable? RICS Cayman Chapter will consider the regional and global factors impacting the economics of real estate in Cayman through a series of interactive and informative sessions at a conference focused on property and construction.

 Attracting over 200 local, regional and international property professionals, the Cayman Islands Property &Construction conference is to be held on Friday, 15th March 2019 at the Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort. The event seeks to build on the knowledge-sharing and networking opportunities of previous years.

 Uche Obi, Chair of the RICS Cayman Chapter comments, “Recently, the Cayman Islands has experienced an unprecedented increase in activity in the real estate/construction sector that has had a positive impact on the economy. It is uncertain how long the boom will last. We are delighted to provide an opportunity for real estate/construction professionals to discuss internal and external factors that have influenced the boom and explore the future.”

 The conference provides an exciting opportunity to bring together all those with an interest in property and construction to seek ways to improve prosperity and growth in the Cayman Islands. Cayman Chapter Announced

 The announcement of the 2019 conference comes after RICS appointed a new RICS Cayman Chapter. The new Chairman of the Chapter is Uche Obi, the Caribbean Business Development Manager for DDL Studio. On the new Cayman Chapter Leadership Committee, are other chartered surveyors, Jeremy Superfine, a Director of BCQS International; Alex Farrington Chartered Surveyor at Quayside Surveyors Ltd; Andrew McBean, Senior Quantity Surveyor at Arch & Godfrey; and Ruth Watson, Senior Valuation Officer with the Lands & Survey Department of The Cayman Islands Government.

The new committee will focus on organising more opportunities for RICS qualified professionals to fulfil their continuing professional development (CPD) requirements.Other priorities identified by Obi were public relations and attracting the next generation by encouraging students in the territory to consider surveying as a career option.
