Cayman Islands: Statement from Foster’s Food Fair re – Hurricane Irma

Foster’s Food Fair, Ltd. (Foster’s IGA, Priced Right, and Bay Market) would like to inform our customers that, our shipment was processed and on its way, however, due to North West and Westerly sea’s they’ve been at a standstill and are expected to dock tomorrow (September 12th, 2017) at 6:00 PM. With this being the case, we will work overnight and get products on the shelves for Wednesday morning.

Looking forward, we are still in conversation with both air and sea shipping carriers regarding the extent of damage Miami has endured from Hurricane Irma. Overall, the damage appears to be minimal, however, there is still no electricity and damage assessments are still being carried out.

Once the ships come in tomorrow (Tuesday 12th) we should be in good shape to get us to the next boat, which hopefully will be this coming weekend. We are in very good shape generally but the perishable items which we cannot store in large quantities, due to dating, are the items which may run out of stock. Miami International Airport remains closed today and will be assessed for cargo operations to resume tomorrow. Once Miami Airport reopens we will do our best to fill the gaps in produce through air deliveries. Our primary freight consolidators in Miami are already back to work putting together our shipments for the next outbound vessels. Our wholesalers will be back to work either today or tomorrow morning and will be processing orders as normal.

We would like to thank you for your patience and cooperation in this time of uncertainty and can assure you we will keep you updated as best we can. It is important to verify information before acting on it.
