GTSC offers Free Summer Youth Football Camps

George Town Sports Club (GTSC) in association with the Cayman Islands Football Association (CIFA) will be hosting Free Summer Youth Football Camps from Monday, August 7th to Friday, August 11th for girls and boys aged 5 to 12 years of age at the CIFA Centre of Excellence on Poindexter Road in Prospect.

Camps for boys will be held on Monday, August 7th, Wednesday, August 9th and Friday, August 11th with sessions for boys aged 5 to 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and boys aged 9 to 12 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Camps for girls will be held on Tuesday, August 8th and Thursday, August 10th with sessions for girls aged 5 to 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and girls aged 9 to 12 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Forms can be completed and submitted on the mornings of the Camps at the CIFA Centre of Excellence. Sign-in for the Camps begins at 7:45 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. respectively.

Organisers will be at the field from 7:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Parents are reminded to drop-off their kids after 7:30 a.m. and are required to collect their children by noon. Campers should come properly dressed for football practice in shirts, shorts, socks and sneakers/football boots. Water, Gatorade and ice will be provided.

Conducting the camps will be players and coaches from Covenant College, a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III, four-year institution, who will be visiting Grand Cayman between August 2nd and August 13th as part of a pre-season training camp in preparation for their 2017/2018 college season.

Founded in 1955, Covenant College is a liberal arts institution with a nationally ranked academic programme. Located on Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Covenant College (nicknamed the ‘Scots’) is a member of the NCAA Division III and the USA South Athletic Conference.

This will be the second time that GTSC has hosted Covenant College for their pre-season training camp – the first being in August 2012.

During their 12-day visit, Covenant College will also be playing a number of practice games against local opposition including the Cayman Islands Under 20 National Team, George Town Sports Club, Academy Sports Club and a Premier League Select Team.
