Cayman Islands shows its stylish side

Fresh from the runway at the Miami Swim Show, designer Tosca Delfino has unveiled her 2013 Spring/Summer Lookbook including a new line inspired by the Cayman Islands. Delfino’s new swimwear collection is a reflection of the designer’s travels with her latest inspiration taken from the “impossibly turquoise waters, lush surroundings and very cosmopolitan Caribbean island of Grand Cayman.” The Cayman Islands Department of Tourism in Canada has been closely supporting the entire project, including a runway show at Toronto Fashion Week last year, a photo shoot in Grand Cayman and an opportunity to show the line at the exclusive Miami SwimShow.

“This partnership is just another example of the event and sponsorship-driven strategy we have in place here in the Canadian market which is paying huge dividends in terms of brand recognition,” says Paul Minich, country manager for the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism in Canada. “It enables us to widen the lens on the destination and expose the Cayman Islands to a far greater audience, in this case, a consumer that is very fashion and design savvy. Our marketing is very lifestyle based, allowing us to be seen in unexpected places as well as communicate with that luxury client who embraces the ‘good life’ in all its forms — from food, to home, to fashion.”

Tosca Delfino is recognized for developing prints through digital manipulation of photography taken on her travels. This unique, one-of-a-kind print technique is expressed in the new Signature Cayman Islands Collection featuring photos she captured of various wildlife and textures found in Grand Cayman, including the world renowned Stingray City and Cayman Turtle Farm, and the rare Cayman Blue Iguanas. The line includes swimsuit styles and cover-ups with names such as Las Tortugas, Stingray City, Conch Ceviche, Blue Iguana and Silver Thatch to name a few.
