Cayman Islands police community meeting a big success

George Town Community Meeting – Selkirk Drive Red Bay

The RCIPS is today (6) saying a big thank you to the community of Red Bay. Over 45 residents turned out last night Tuesday August 5th to voice their concerns or just simply show their support for the work that is being carried out in their district and area.

Chief inspector Angelique Howell, district commander for George Town hailed the community meeting a huge success..” I would like to pay tribute to the dozens of community members who have attended the meeting last night. I have always maintained that we police all districts of these Cayman Islands by consent and last night we have received a clear message of support from our community “. The Chief Inspector outlined to the community that there were a total of 64 crimes reported within their area during the past six month. Crimes ranging from burglaries, criminal trespass, theft, ferocious dog, dangerous driving and damage to property.

Areas of concern included speeding, ferocious and stray animals, thefts, dark streets and burglaries were discussed as areas of concern for the residents. The residents themselves indicated that they will come together as a community to put security measures in place to assist in safety of their community. Chief Inspector Howell reassured the residents that she and her staff would continue to work with them to iron out their problems and find solutions wherever possible.

Regular meetings and interaction have been promised to keep residents up to date with what the police are doing in their community.

In closing chief Howell praised the work of her neighbourhood team who she commended for their tireless work in all the districts to bring the police and community closer together.
