Cayman Islands National Trust appoints full time employee for Mission House

The Mission House, a property of significant historical value, will now be open on a regular basis to the general public from Monday 30thApril. The regular hours are being boosted as The National Trust has a new National Trust (NT) Historic Coordinator, Ms. Jennifer Martinez.

Ms. Martinez is a fifth generation Caymanian from Bodden Town, and has over 15 years of experience in the hospitality and tourism industry. She is passionate about bringing renewed energy and enthusiasm to this National Trust historic property. Ms. Martinez aims to create a Cayman-kind atmosphere where visitors and guests can step back in time, to a Cayman of “yester-year”. They can learn about the early missionaries, the teachers and families who lived there while establishing a Presbyterian church and school in Bodden Town.

Visitors, residents and schools are encouraged to visit and take part in guided tours Monday 12am to 4pm and Tuesday through Friday 9.30am to 4pm. Tours are also available on weekends by appointment only. The property is also able to be hired as a venue for special occasions.

The Mission House is located at 63 Gun Square, and boasts a gift shop where guests can purchase local arts and crafts and eco-friendly items. In addition, guests can enjoy our new offering of traditional Caymanian teas and fresh baked treats made by Martinez, a self-taught baker. Cost of entry is CI $10 per adult and CI $4 per child, aged 12 years and under.

For group bookings and further information on the Mission House please email Jennifer Martinez at [email protected] or call 749-1121.
