Cayman Islands Marathon Man completes SF marathon after bad fall

We have just received a message from Derek Haines that he managed to complete the San Francisco Marathon. This is what he said:

“Unofficial 4.31 but I will be faster than that I think on the chip. Took a bad fall at 2.5 miles and Montezuma got his revenge at 11 but didn’t walk at all. Very cold for first 10 and running in fog.
“Gaby did 2.16 for 1st half marathon.”
END

Mill Valley resident and El Salvador native Jorge Maravilla, 39, came in first place, finishing in an unofficial time of 2:28:26.

Devin McMahon, a 25-year-old Stanford University graduate student, was the first female finisher. It was only her second marathon, and she said she was “very surprised” she came in first with an unofficial time of 2:51:00.
