Cayman Islands: Linford Pierson Highway temporary road layout

From Cayman Islands National Roads Authority

• Changes to road layout will start Monday, 16 April and last for six weeks

• A section of the highway will shift from two lanes to one lane, and the Agnes Way roundabout will open officially

• Motorist are advised to adjust their travel time

GRAND CAYMAN (GIS) – Starting from Monday April 16th, there will a temporary change to the traffic flow along Linford Pierson Highway. This change is part of the overall widening-project for the roadway and will facilitate NRA crews to complete the project.

The west-bound lane (heading towards George Town) between Halifax Road and Rankin Drive will merge from two lanes to one lane. After Rankin Drive, the road will open back up to two lanes. Additionally, the roundabout near Agnes Way will be functional.

NRA suggests that drivers adjust their travel times particularly in the morning rush hour, during the next 4-6 weeks while this work is ongoing. “Motorists will have seen an improvement in traffic flow over the past few months, and we encourage them to be patient while these works are carried out to complete the project.” says Marion Pandohie, NRA Transportation Planner. “NRA apologises for the inconvenience these changes will cause, but the changes are necessary and are temporary. In the end it will all be worth it.”

The NRA apologizes for any inconvenience these works may cause, but want to stress the importance of these works in the overall LPH widening project. We look forward to improving the overall road network for the motoring public.
