Cayman Islands HSA educates Clifton Hunter students on vast healthcare opportunities

The Cayman Islands Health Services Authority (HSA) participated in the Clifton Hunter High School Career Fair where it exposed students to the numerous and diverse career opportunities available in the health care field on Friday, 12 January 2018.

“We are always willing and excited to do our part to nurture the next generation of health care professionals in the Cayman Islands and to help them to gain a better understanding of the skills and education required for jobs in the field,” said Communications Officer Monique Spence.

“We also want to bring greater awareness to the non-clinical career opportunities and the medical specialties that are available,” she added.

HSA’s engaging and interactive booth featured displays from various departments throughout the Authority including the pathology laboratory, dental unit, dietary services and EMS. Experts from each of these departments were available to answer questions about their job roles and to distribute career leaflets highlighting other clinical and non-clinical careers in health care, their educational requirements and growth opportunities.

Cayman Islands Further Education Centre (CIFEC) Career Services Manager Heather-Ann Cahill thanked the HSA for supporting the Career Fair at the Clifton Hunter High School. “It was a tremendous success due to your active engagement with students and their excitement at taking full advantage of opportunities to learn about your business. We appreciate the time and effort you and your colleagues made and continue to make to improve the lives of our young people,” she stated.

Students were also informed of the Authority’s annual summer internship programme, which will open for registration on 1 March 2018 and close 30 April 2018.
