Cayman Islands Customs Warehouse employees arrested

From Cayman Islands Customs Department

Collector of Customs Charles Clifford has announced that two male Customs Warehouse employees were arrested yesterday, 5th September 2018, on suspicion of theft from the Customs Warehouse and related offences.

One employee is 48 years of age and is from the district of West Bay and the other employee is 31 years of age and is from the district of George Town. The arrests were the result of a joint Customs and Police operation.

Mr. Clifford confirmed that the two employees have been placed on required leave.

The Collector thanked the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service for their partnership and for taking the lead on this investigation.

Mr. Clifford further confirmed that the two civilian employees remain in custody and that as this is an active investigation, no further comment will be made at this time.
