Cayman Islands Celebrates International Day for Persons with Disabilities

GRAND CAYMAN (GIS) –The yellow t-shirts of staff and students of the Sunrise Adult Training Centre made the sun shine just a little brighter on Monday, 3 December 2018.

The group travelled to George Town to join His Excellency the Acting Governor, Franz Manderson on the steps of Government Administration Building (GAB) to mark International Day for Persons with Disabilities.

Also known as Sunrise, the Centre has a busy few weeks planned in the lead-up to the holidays.

On Wednesday, 12 December 2018, it is inviting the public to a Sunrise Family Christmas Service. The event takes place in the John Gray Memorial Church Hall from 6.30 p.m.

The theme of this year’s service is “Jesus is the Light of the World”, and all Sunrise clients will feature in the programme. While attendance is free, Sunrise extends its appreciation for any donations the public may wish to make.

Also present for the photo-opportunity at GAB were: Acting Cabinet Secretary Robert Lewis, whose office provides secretariat services to the Disabilities Council; Disabilities Council member, Shari Smith, PhD, and member of the Disabilities and Older Persons Councils Rosie Myles.
